Not being a full time installer anymore, and not working for retailers in years anyone install this squishy loose lay vinyl?

I heard you cant use regular vinyl glue as it will melt the back? Confused

I have heard you can't use seam sealer on it?

Heard pressure sensative glue works? (not cheap!)

At the big box we won't install it but we sell it!

Do the ASSociates just spread rumors at the big box or do they actually read the manufacturer's installation instructions of products they sell?

Here's a power point from armstrong on their glass back floor.

Here's a video (wmv) link of everyone's favorite talker on a similar product from Balta.

A salesman I know at the local big box, asked me how to install the stuff. He said they put him out cold to sell it. No instructions, no warranty info, nothing!

Yep, I am the only installer there at my place. The manager was one, many years ago.

I never saw this stuff until I started working there.

Customers do what they want to do anyways.

We really aren't suppossed to offer advise etc. Liability issues!

Yeah right...who uses the slogan- "you can do it, we can help"?

You can always ask the rep for install instructions. Lazyness issues if you ask me.

Ever been standing in the flooring isle when a consumer asks the Orange Guy a question and try and not laugh out loud at the answer? I have.

We never see a rep.

We don't sell commercial seam sealer, synthetic jute pad, crappy quality tackstrip and $58 wetsaws.

I've been written up twice in 6 months for not getting silly tasks done. It takes forever to do an estimate as the program asks silly non pertaining questions.

Always have big wheel bosses visiting to make sure we are dusting the shelves etc. Lots of chiefs and not enough indians!

It has it's good points and it's bad points. The good is the 18-24 year old cashiers that hug me everyday Wink

Laziness issues. After the grueling days I put in and goofy hours?

They don't want to train us. Takes me off the selling floor. We are short on help, and they expect me to do 2 people's jobs. Less employees is less payroll. Less payroll is more bonuses for the big bosses! Smiler

And don't go over 40 hours!

I can't believe they want a latex seam sealer on the seams with Flexitech. Like regular crapet seam sealer? Confused

Thanks Wayner!

They install it at the store down the road from me. Same district as my store. Our distict installed sales guy said no!

Nextt time I see him I will ask.

They recently did a CFI certification for our subs. Two Johns were here. Namba was one. I didn't get to go. They might be doing one in September as there was too many installers and not enough slots.

I would go on my day off if it fell that way. (no pay)

John was doing a certification. Carpet not vinyl.

Back on topic all the stores in our district will now install the squishy vin-o-leum.
