Lumber Liquidators is selling a type of floating, glueless flooring called DuraWood Quick Clic which seems similar to Kahrs, but is much less expensive. The price they listed for 4 1/2" Maple was $2.00/sq. ft. vs. Kahrs Woodloc (7 1/2", 15 mm, two strip)for about $7.50. This seems too good to be true. Anyone ever used this stuff or know anything about Lumber Liquidators?

Thanks,
Bob D.

Bob, if it seems too good to be true it usually is. I have installed several jobs that the wood came from LL. In two of the cases it was Chinese made, poor quality finish and mostly shorts. Just like installation, you get what you pay for.

There is a reason the LL Durawood is cheaper!!!

I have yet to see anything from LL be flawless. The worst milling of any wood I have had the chance to play with. But I have yet to play with Durawood, so I can oly imagine it lives up to LL's poor reputation for junk.

Don't know what Durawood is, but I can speak for the quality of the Kahrs product. It is extremely well engineered and goes to toether great. Never had any boards that would not go together.

So no one here has really installed the product in question.

Even if its a knock off perhaps the Kahrs is just overpriced. I have seen some pretty nice stuff come from LL. I think some people here are just biased.

You well could have Stephen, and some not so good some junk and may the best job lot ever seen by man. It's called over stocks, mill ends, freight salvage or liquidated inventory. Reliability, consistancy, standards, uniform moisture etc. are purposely not mentioned.

Which in fact would not make it any different than most other online wood vendors. That we could agree on.

Hay Jeff. Are not all these etailers "liquidators'? Yes even that hardwood installer guy gone etailer. They all vy for the cheapest junk out there to sell any unsuspecting consumer and pray it comes in good. And hope some installer hacks it in or they do not accliamate it, something anything to get them off the hook. But then are they responsible for anything? No just shippin it.

There is always that chance you might get first class stuff though.

Perhaps you need to compare apples to apples and not apples to oranges Bob D.

Kahrs Linnea would probably be a better comparison to the DuraWood Quick Clic you are looking at but I'd bet the Kahrs is a better product. Wouldn't surprise me if the DuraWood Quick Clic is a laminate but it may be a veneer.

For what it's worth I've never gotten anything but first rate product and service from iFloor. A big thumbs up to them!

I have never had a problem with any goods shipped from i-floor myself. All top notch stuff.

I am on the LL installer list and I tell ya the guy here is a picky som itch to get listed and he knows his stuff. Came in from Seattle to get the store up and running.

He actually tells people to acclimate their product 7 days min, and if you don't have a meter you cannot play.

If people ask me if the product is good I tell them its great at the price their getting it for. Big Grin Wink

I have not installed any of the LL engineered stuff, but I have installed several of their solids . Not one of them would I put in my own house. I'm talking about their private label line.

Kahrs is top shelf flooring in my experience.

Yea well not everyone can afford top shelf stuff. Is it my duty to coach the consumer on quality vs average? I don't think so.

Are they not supposed to get a lovely wood floor because they cannot afford Kars? Heck I cannot afford that Amish stuff, should I get carpet instead?

Milling deficiency's are the retailer/manufacture's problem. Lord knows I will even install Bruce for a buck. Big Grin
