So far i am not sure of the usefulness of this site, other than being able to get a few questions possibly answered correctly it seems like alot of bickering to me. Anyone like to point me in another direction of thinking?

Don't mind the inspectors forum, it gets outa hand once in awhile. Theres some boob using multiple names in there who is kinda slippery and runs a floor reporting website. Otherwise it is kinda dull here.

But it's all good. Lets people really see what goes on behind closed doors of the inspection community. Man....I thought the installation side was bad off.

Now, if you want a false sense of security there are other boards with a high degree of censorship and bravado like tfp, a good one that is monitored but not highly censored by the admin but not as micro managed is www.floorbiz.com. Plus David will give you an ad for free if you contribute. Very good site and read by thousands of people in the industry on a daily basis.

The FCI site is down, seems to be some problem with the losers who run the website. It is well....seen better days.

Nothing worse than censorship IMHO. I hate people messin eith my text and pictures all the time. I don't need another daddy.

Great, just what the world needs- another critic. Blow me imperial.

"Another daddy", that's funny. What's tfp stand for - the fu**in' patriarch? floorbiz is like a regurgitation of everything written on the net in the past five years. A few of the other i-boards are up, they must be busy cleaning gopher poo.

Imperial, there are a number of message boards available. Only you can decide which ones deserve your attention.

FloorBiz - this has been around a number of years and has recently had a resurgence in activity.
Contractor Talk - is a forum for a variety of trades, but has a fairly active flooring forum too.
Garden Web - is mostly for the consumer.
Hardwood Flooring Talk - also mostly consumer oriented, but has a decent installer forum too.
InfoTile - an Australian board with good bunch of tile guys.
John Bridge's Tile Your World - pretty active tile board, but I have this aversion to pro sites that use the owner's name - not that that makes the board bad.
Carpet Fitters - this is a forum of flooring pros primarily from the UK.
Floor Masters - this is a nice board for wood flooring pros - I'm jealous.
Mikey's Board - cleaners, but I know next to nothing about them.
ICS Cleaning Specialist - prob'ly the most active cleaning board around the ether.
Commercial Floor Care - name says it all, but I don't know much about it.
Floor Covering Installer (the magazine) message board - used to be one of the greats, as was this one here at FlooringInstaller.com
Cleanfax Online - cleaning and another one I know nothing about.
DIY Chatroom - a Do-It-Yourselfer site, but a good bunch of pros hang out in the flooring section.
The Floor Pro Community (TFP) - I am the admin there, so anything I say about it would be biased.

I have no doubt there are some I haven't listed, but it'll give you something to do. I hope others will provide links to other message boards so you can check them out too. One thing is for sure: If you are a pro, there is no shortage of good resources to help you become a better professional and offer you a platform to share your experiences.

Floormasters focus's mainly on hardwood finishing, but there is some sporadic installation content.

Now that comedy at it's best wayner. Least floorbiz will give you a free ad and not try and get their hands in your pockets. You should go over and join in. I have so say, what isin't a reguratation of the last several years on the net? Not much thats for sure.

Still is better Jimmy. Even after many of you and your cohorts there complained about this forums content and had the admin remove a few of the forums here, then they stopped posting here, Nice trick. Don't matter though, all the inspectors that have much sense about them stopped posting there, and you know why. And your other "favorite" old forum FCI, the one you never ever post at? Weird you only show up there for your own benefit.

The truth will always be found here, not some industry myth thing the manufactures want you to believe.

Sure we're rough around the edges here but we are the real floorpros . People here actually are pros not hacks wishing they were pros. And we don't have to give away prizes to get hits.

I'm sure you know it's not free. You are required to post a specific number of times per month or week or whatever it is.

I'm absolutely positive that if you ask Steve Simonson, he will assure you that no one had him remove any forums. He made that decision all on his own. You even participated in the discussion he brought up about it - maybe it was YOU who caused the loss of some forums.

I do post there. Sometimes it's for my benefit, sometimes for others'. You do the same. What's the issue you have with that again?

And all along I thought you were business savvy. I guess marketing isn't something you know much about. I believe Steve has given prizes, so has the FCI team - rarely, but they have. But I guess when I do it, it's bad jou-jou. My feeling is you don't really know what it takes to grow a website business. It's prob'ly not just like growing a flooring business.

By the way. The hacks wishing they were pros you claim are at TFP and other sites??? Some of them are your friends and active participants here too. Are they only hacks when they post at TFP, or are you calling them hacks here too?

The original post was made by the patriarch. His sneaky way of pilfering. Much like he did to the state of California.

You are a liar, Frango. I did not post the original post.

Bullitt, you know why I came here to register. I posted my reply yesterday to try to help someone - mainly because I thought Frango treated the guy like shit, as he usually does, and wanted to let the guy know not everyone is the asshole Frango is. That was the only reason I posted and I only tried to extend the help you offered (except for your snide remark about TFP) with a few links.

Besides, I participate in a lot of forums. Is there a new rule I should know about?

Thats what I figured too wayner. You got the means to find out more than I do. I didn't like the way Imperial come off either, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. I mean he didn't even say hello or nothing, kinda just a put down like Jim said about our site.

Not so great in your eyes Jim, but we like the freedom and not having you micro managing our posts, pictures and threads thank you very much.

Well it seems this is more for INSPECTORS which I know nothing about, I know about installing floors. Obviously this is not the place for me.

Oh but I would have to respectively disagree ole wise Imperial One. Big Grin

I am an installer, I also perform inspections (you know for the horrible brokerage firms) thanks to grumpy ole Lee Tucker who got me in. Razzer

But....I got into inspecting not only to learn more about products but to learn more about their potential failure mechanisms and what causes them. I dove in to learn more about how the inspection community works and how to protect myself from the bad ones, the hype and myths many use to nail installers.

This...helps me be a better installer. You get much more in depth knowledge thru inspection than anyone recieves in most formal installation classes.

You would probably be ok if you read your installation guidelines and follow them. But there is much much more than whats on the surface Imperial One. There's alot of topics to choose from in the archives, probably most anything there is to install has been discussed here in the past. Got any questions try us. Or if you have a topic thow it in here. I'd be glad to discuss it with ya.

Tell ya what, do a search and try and find something that has NOT been discussed since this boards inception and get back to us.

So go...free yourself and decide who you want to learn from....people who know or people who claim they know. Your decision, hope you choose wisely. With that attitude of yours I bet you'll never come back.

I'm an installer first and an inspector second.

I do way more contracting. Inspecting is just a side job.

I tend to agree with Imperial. Besides bickering (as evidenced in this very thread - which I probably should just delete) is there any other "output" being created here?

Yes, there are many controversial topics we discuss here.

Like I told Imperial, you can learn way more about flooring issues following inspection forum than anywhere else.

That said the inspection community has many issues in itself which need to be addressed. They are being addressed but are a little sensitive. The inspection process can and does impact many of us in the industry, positively and negatively.

Other topics have been covered numerous times, I mean how many times can we discuss carpet stretching....ask Ryan. lol

The fact that the forums have been reduced to a few does not give way to many topics or flooring related interests. And it takes two weeks for a reply to get thru to the consumer.

Assuming I am the rotten fish, I will only restate what I have said for many years:

This site is whatever the users make of it. I have never attacked anyone here nor do I believe anything I have said could be interpreted as such.

I have no time to dedicate to moderation - I can barely get my work done let alone hobbies. This site is less a reflection of me and more a reflection of those who use it.

The root question is what do the users want?

As you watch a potential "new" user come along and make a unbiased observation which may be accurate the thread itself spirals into exactly what the new guy talked about.

If I am the "fish head" of the problem - let me volunteer to exit the building and stop paying the bills. I welcome anyone interested to put forward their proposal to take it over.
