NICFI 2008 Convention
October 22-24, 2008 Dalton, GA We are back in Dalton, GA for this year’s convention. We will be hosting our Celebration Dinner again this year at the Dalton Country Club and we are looking for a big turnout from our claims representatives to enjoy our yearly social event with us. Please contact your representatives and let them know we are coming and look forward to seeing them Thursday the 23rd. Our feature speaker this year is Mrs. Cathy Duncan “The Report Writing Lady”. Mrs. Duncan instructs the report writing portions of both the NWFA and NOFMA Inspector Certification Courses. There is nothing that separates “YOU” from the rest of the field than the ability to write a clear, concise, professional report. Don’t miss this opportunity for 6 hours of in-depth report writing instruction. Take your communication skills to the next level and see the difference it will make in your business. There will be 3 to 4 hours on Inspection Techniques spread throughout the three days of our convention on “How Do You Do That”? These inspection technique demonstrations will be broken down into 15 to 30 minute segments. Subjects to be covered include but are not limited to: Common mistakes when evaluating concrete slabs. Ralph Godfrey. Side Match, is it or isn’t it, can it be corrected? Fred Gamble. Fuzzing and Shedding inspection procedures, defect or not? Randall Green. Overwood: solid and engineered wood flooring, is there really any such thing? Mark Brown. Checks and Splits: solid and engineered wood, unlocking the mystery. Why they occur and who is responsible? Will Stoner. Plus: Delamination of engineered wood flooring. How to measure flatness and deflection properly and how to report it. Plus information on laminate and resilient flooring. These topics were selected after interviewing Claims Managers from all segments of our industry and asking “What 5 areas would you recommend inspectors become more proficient to make us a more valuable asset”. By far “Report Writing” was on top of everyone’s list, the rest you read above. There will also be on-going demonstrations of how topical and moisture from below affect solid wood differently when compared to engineered wood. Installation related damage or bad milling? How do you know? Plus much more. Carpet Tiles: What are they? Problems, Causes, Cures; How to properly inspect carpet tile installations and report your findings. 2 speakers covering 3 hours of instruction. Mohawk & Shaw Industries will both have time to address the group explaining specific information regarding any new products and procedures as well as on-line based report writing programs/changes. ***Speakers along with a Round Table Discussions Dedicated to; Developing New and Profitable avenues of inspection and consulting work. Marketing your services out side the box, Web Site development and developing your presence on the internet. We must develop/create new sources of inspection/consulting work to remain and/or become more profitable. There is still more to come, so watch for the next installment of Convention News 08. The business meeting and elections will be held on Thursday afternoon. Be part of the evolution of our industry, with the changing times “NICFI Members” will be setting the standards and paving the way into new venues of inspection and consulting opportunities. Promoting you, through the strength of our organization! ***Hotel special rates for NICFI members *** LaQuinta Inns, Dalton GA (the old Wingate) Room rate $85.00 per night. Now that a very reasonable price.
But really who can't write a concise report. It's a very elementary process. Myself, I don't like paying people to tell me stuff I already know. |

wonder why they put it here, ain't none of us puppy dogs to lick their feet and let them crap on us, we are free men and women here,,,,ain't no wussies here,,,,real men, real women! yea, yea yea !
serious, ain't no slaves here for them to whip and hold back, we are, free independent inspectors and installers, wish they would take that somewhere else, end of comments, from a FREE MAN! |

their day is done and so gone, was a fad that is now so sad, |

Kathy Duncan Report Writing Expert Training for 6 hours is worth the cost and the trip. She is NOFMA's and NWFA's teacher and she only gets 1 to 3 hours if we're lucky.
It will be great getting 6 hours (full day) of her training. 300.00 is cheap as is $400.00 if you are not a member. This is by far the best Training ever offered by the NICFI and Will Stoner did a great job. Thank you, Will Stoner, for putting together the finest group of speakers ever offered by the NICFI. Combine the list of speakers with the LOW cost and this is the finest value in training ever offered by anybody, anywhere. FYI: 32 have confirmed attendance thus far. Not bad for a group going out of business. And they are down to over 100 members. John

must be desperate to use my last name and the same little photos under my name,,,,trying to mislead people now are we? ummmmm, never mind,,,,,
yes, Mrs. Duncan, I have to admit, will be worth more than 300, 400 or even 500 for the day, but, the only problem I see there, is, well, even the best can't do anything with the worse! and she is the best,,,, go in peace, she is worth the price I will admit, |

You agree that this years convention offers valuable training at a cheap fee.
Forget about the politics and simply look at the training offered for the fee charged and it's easy to see this one is worth attending. Be nice to see Randall Green again too!! I guess he'll be one of Will Stoners instructors and that should be good for all of us. Randall has always been a great source of information to inspectors. |

Yes,
Mr. Stoner has done a good job, maybe even a great job, Mr. Ray did a good job when he was in charge one year, problem is, no matter how great a job and how good or great the guys presenting are, if the dumbnuts there are dumbnuts, won't matter, |
Ray did the convention several times.
I remember you being there a once or twice so I guess you are a dumbnut too? Oh, you went to the Social a few times too. How's business holding up for you? Tom and the others tell us they are doing very well. |
interesting,
doing fine as always, Tom said that? last week, he and I were having so much fun poor mouthing to each other on the phone ,,,, I thought he had "outdone" me, guess not, slt |
Funny how that works. The same guy will tell different things to different people....... I guess it's a "size" thing Examples: - I'm smarter than you... - I'm know more than you... - I'm dumber than you... - I'm slower than you.. LOL |

Empathy is the new sympathy.

whatever,
time to watch the games in China, more interesting and fun than the games here, hey, Khaos, did they ask you to speak,,,,they sure should! ever notice, real installation experience is not allowed...now, that does needs some sympathy. |

but, oh wise one, I looked, and listen, saw, and learned the caliber of people I had associated myself. oh wise one, having realized that, I DisAssoCiAteD myself. oh wise one, I have seen the latest email, and others are now realizing that I was right, those many years ago.... but, out of respect to Mr. Stoner and a past friendship, I will decline to comment further upon the upcoming "event". as such, and agreeing a good job was done...why don't you take this discussion to a new thread and discuss each speaker and what they will contribute, instead of the negativity toward me. I am nobody and nobody listens to me anyway, I mean, that is what you always say, so, why waste your time on nobody me???? go, enjoy the convention, and I look forward to seeing you discuss each speaker and how they will make inspectors better, even the dumbnuts. |
