hi,iam a 28yr old carpetfitter in the uk.I am fed up in the uk and would like to move to canada or the USA.I have joined this forunm in order to get some info about the trade on your side of the pond.Hopefully i will be able to find a job and move over around christmas time

I know most of the UK fitters kick everything. Over here you need to powerstretch. Most of our carpet is too stiff and heavy to kick. anyway.

Canada has better healthcare. Plus they have polar bears and french speaking women.

I wouldn't say it is better, it is just free. But what do you get for free...

They're money is worth alot more than the dollar. Buy Canadian dollars, not oil stocks.

well its not the job itself.I just want to move to a country with a better culture.A country with a better work and leisure balance.Australia is very appealing,but iys a bit too far.
My ambition is to travel and experience the world.Experience different cultures and people.Unfortunately I am not rich enough to do this.So working as a carpetfitter whilst living/working abroad seems like a good solution.

our latinos are now heading back south,
the work is gone, and what little tech work left is only in research in places like the Tri in NC (Duke, UNC, NCSU, Wake Forest) and most of those guys are imports, from countries with real educational systems,,,,yea, we even import our researchers now,,,,

I did several inspections two years ago in the Tri area, one development, and no one, in over 150 houses, were from the U.S. and all, were there working in research departments,,,,real high tech stuff like laser communications. And all, each one, said they had rather live back home or (most had worked in Europe before being transferred here) be transferred back to Europe.....

The complaints?
the people are mean,
the food bad,
lack of freedoms,
Americans were uneducated and stupid about people from other places, and said Americans refused to learn,
lots of prejudice,
health care not as good,
our housing is not a good,,

I went to seven houses, and in each one, no one wanted to be here.

Real leisure activities cost money. The only leisure a crapet layer can afford is slammin' back a 12 pack.
